Richard Chapman, Silvia Perez, Robert Moreau, Roya Hashemi and Edwin Granados were awarded the Associate of the Month for the month of April. Edwin is with our Minuteman Parking company, but was very instrumental in helping the Marriott associates during this fire. Missing from the photo is Richard Chapman, Loss Prevention.
The nomination was from Mark Rose and it read: "On April 14th at approximately 2:10 a.m. I was awakened by a call from Janice Vande Steeg, General Manager, where she informed me that a fire had been reported at the hotel. I arrived on the scene just after 2:30 to find the fire had been extinquished and all were safe.
Here's the amazing part of the story. In a mere 20 minutes Richard, Silvia, Robert, Roya and Edwin had the building evacuated, contacted management about the situation and assisted the MBFD in their efforts. Most importantly none of the associates or a single guest was injured.
Without being asked, these individuals then when in to recovery mode and assisted guests back to their rooms, manned the phones, helped move the lobby furniture and set up a coffee break all while working in ankle deep water.
These five associates are to be commended on their cool headedness and awesome decison making during such a difficult time. Additionally, their Spirit to Serve our guests and each other was exemplary and should be referred to as we train our current and new associates on our Genuine Care principals.

Madeline Carson, our IT tech and friend, is leaving us! Okay, a moment of silence! We are all so sad! We are happy and excited for Madeline to start the next chapter of her life, but we are going to miss her like crazy. Who will we call to fix all our computer problems? Oh, Rono! MJ! Francis! Ed! Boys you are going to miss her too!
